Where does this data come from?
Directly from the Joint Seat Allocation Authority's published opening and closing rank archive — the same source counsellors use. We do not estimate, model or "predict" cutoffs; we show you what the ranks actually were and where your rank falls against them.
Why does it ask for two different ranks?
Because IIT seats are allotted on your JEE Advanced rank and NIT, IIIT and GFTI seats on your JEE Main rank. They are separate exams on separate scales. Any predictor that asks for a single rank and shows you both is comparing numbers that cannot be compared.
I am OBC-NCL / SC / ST / EWS — which rank do I enter?
Your category rank, not your Common Rank List rank. For reserved seats JoSAA publishes category ranks, so that is what your rank is compared against.
Why does my home state matter?
NITs reserve roughly half their seats for students from the state the NIT is in, and those Home State cutoffs are usually far more generous than the Other State ones. Setting your home state shows you the quota you can actually claim.
Is this a guarantee?
No, and be careful with any site that implies otherwise. Cutoffs shift year to year. This tells you which options are realistic to consider — the decision still needs a human who knows your situation.
