What counselling for low mood can help with in Hisar

You don’t need a diagnosis or a reason that looks big enough from outside. These are the things people bring when low mood has been weighing on them:

🌁
Loss of interest

Things you used to enjoy going flat — hobbies, people, plans. Often the earliest and most honest sign.

😶
Exhaustion & sleep

Tiredness sleep doesn’t fix, mornings getting harder, everything taking more effort than it should.

🧠
The harsh inner voice

Guilt, feeling like a burden, a running self-criticism you’d never accept aimed at anyone else.

😓
Withdrawing

Pulling back from friends and family without quite deciding to, and the loneliness that follows.

🌑
Numbness, not just sadness

Feeling flat or empty rather than tearful — the version of low mood that’s easiest to miss and dismiss.

🫀
Feeling stuck

Drift after a setback, a loss or a change — where low mood and feeling directionless feed each other.

What the pressure looks like here

Hisar runs on study. Guru Jambheshwar University, the agricultural university at HAU — one of the largest of its kind in Asia — and the veterinary university between them pull in young people from villages right across western Haryana, most of them the first in their family to study this far from home. For a lot of them the real adjustment isn’t the syllabus, it’s being suddenly alone in a hostel or a rented room in a town where nobody knew them a month ago.

Over all of it sits the government job. SSC, HSSC, bank and teaching exams, years of preparation with no feedback and no fixed endpoint, in a region where a sarkari naukri is treated as the one safe outcome. People sit a second and third attempt while everyone they grew up with moves into jobs and marriages, and the gap gets harder to talk about each year.

The families carry it too — farming households that have put real money behind a child’s studies, and a quiet pressure that struggling would be ungrateful.

How it works

1
Take the free low-mood check

The PHQ-4 is a short, well-known low-mood and anxiety scale. Two minutes, no sign-up, nothing saved — it helps you see how heavy the fortnight has been.

2
Book your slot

Pick a time from the live calendar and get the video-call invite straight away. Video, voice or chat — your choice.

3
Talk it through

45 minutes with the same counsellor every time. You leave with one or two concrete things to try, not a sales pitch.

What’s already available in Hisar, and what’s missing

There’s a civil hospital and private clinics in Hisar, and for a psychiatric assessment or anything severe the public medical colleges in the region, including PGIMS at Rohtak, are the right doors to knock on. Agroha has a medical college too.

What that system isn’t built for is the much larger group who aren’t ill but are struggling anyway — the hosteller who’s stopped going to class, the aspirant on a third attempt, the student who can’t tell their family how it’s really going. That kind of thing gets left alone because it doesn’t look like illness. It just looks like studying.

Sessions run online, nothing reaches your university or your family, and the first is ₹249.

What this is, and what it isn’t

It’s counselling support, not treatment: confidential conversations about what you’re carrying and what might help. We don’t diagnose conditions and we don’t prescribe medication, and this isn’t an emergency service. If what you describe needs a psychiatrist, your counsellor will tell you so in the first session and help you find one. You won’t be sold a package instead.

What a session costs in Hisar

₹499 for 45 minutes, and your first one is ₹249 with the code FIRST50. Private counselling in India usually runs ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 a session. You’re not signing up for a course of treatment — you’re booking one conversation, and you can stop after it.

Frequently asked questions

Will my university or coaching centre be told?

No. This sits entirely outside your institution — no attendance note, no word to a warden or a counselling cell. You can book using a first name only.

I’ve been preparing for a government job for years and feel stuck. Is that a mental health issue?

It doesn’t have to be a disorder to be worth talking about. Sustained uncertainty with no feedback wears people down in a way that looks like lost motivation from outside and feels very different from inside, and it’s a genuinely workable thing to bring to a session.

Is the session in Hindi?

Yes if you want it to be — Hindi or English, whichever you think in. For most students and aspirants in this part of Haryana that’s Hindi, and there’s no reason a session should run in the harder language.

I can’t afford much. What does it cost?

A first session is ₹249 with code FIRST50, and sessions after are ₹499 for 45 minutes — deliberately well below typical private counselling rates of ₹1,500 to ₹3,000, because affordability is exactly what stops people here getting support.

Can counselling help with depression?

Often, yes — especially for mild to moderate low mood, where counselling, support and small changes make a real difference. More severe depression sometimes needs medication alongside, and a counsellor will tell you honestly.

I feel numb rather than sad. Is that still worth talking about?

Yes. Loss of feeling — not enjoying anything, feeling flat or empty — is a core feature of depression and is often missed. It’s very much worth talking through.
