What anxiety counselling can help with in Delhi

You don’t need a diagnosis to book, and you don’t need to be in crisis. These are the forms anxiety most often takes when people reach out:

🧠
Worry that won’t stop

A mind that jumps from one “what if” to the next and never quite settles, even when nothing’s wrong.

💓
The physical side

Racing heart, tight chest, a knotted stomach, restlessness, muscles that stay tense even at rest.

💨
Panic attacks

Sudden surges of fear with pounding heart and breathlessness — frightening, and very workable with support.

😴
Sleep & focus

Lying awake with a racing mind, trouble concentrating, feeling on edge and exhausted at once.

🚫
Avoidance

Turning down things you want to do, or getting through them braced — the quiet cost anxiety adds up over time.

📚
Exam & performance anxiety

Blanking despite preparing, dread before presentations, panic that peaks at exactly the wrong moment.

What the pressure looks like here

Delhi puts two things in the same few kilometres: a lot of very selective institutions, and a lot of families who moved here so their child could get into one. DU cut-offs, the CUET scramble, the civil services coaching belts around Mukherjee Nagar and Rajinder Nagar, NEET and JEE hanging over everything.

Two stories come up over and over in sessions. One is the aspirant in a rented room with no family nearby, where a bad month has nobody in it. The isolation does more harm than the syllabus ever does. The other is the student whose family has visibly given things up to fund this, who has quietly decided that struggling would be ungrateful. So they say nothing.

How it works

1
Take the free anxiety check

The GAD-7 is a short, well-known anxiety scale. Two minutes, no sign-up, nothing saved — it helps you see how heavy things have got.

2
Book your slot

Pick a time from the live calendar and get the video-call invite straight away. Video, voice or chat — your choice.

3
Talk it through

45 minutes with the same counsellor every time. You leave with practical ways to turn the anxiety down, not a sales pitch.

What’s already available in Delhi, and what’s missing

Delhi is better served than most cities. Psychiatry at AIIMS, and IHBAS in Dilshad Garden, one of the big public mental health institutions in the country. If you need a psychiatric assessment, or things are severe, go there.

Neither is built for the much larger group who aren’t ill but are struggling anyway. The student who can’t make themselves open the book. The aspirant on a third attempt. The twenty-six-year-old who has stopped enjoying anything and can’t say why. Public psychiatry has waiting lists and a clinical threshold you’ve to cross first. Private therapy here runs ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 a session, which for a student means asking a parent for the money, which for a lot of them means not going.

Sessions here happen online, so nobody sees you turn up, and the first one is ₹249.

Confidential means confidential

What this is, and what it isn’t

It’s counselling support, not treatment: confidential conversations about what you’re carrying and what might help. We don’t diagnose conditions and we don’t prescribe medication, and this isn’t an emergency service. If what you describe needs a psychiatrist, your counsellor will tell you so in the first session and help you find one. You won’t be sold a package instead.

What a session costs in Delhi

₹499 for 45 minutes, and your first one is ₹249 with the code FIRST50. Private counselling in India usually runs ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 a session. You’re not signing up for a course of treatment — you’re booking one conversation, and you can stop after it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to travel anywhere in Delhi for a session?

No. Sessions are online by video, voice or chat, so there’s no clinic to reach across the city and no waiting room to sit in. For most people in Delhi that’s the point — the traffic is a real barrier, and so is being seen.

Is this available in Hindi?

Yes. Hindi or English, whichever you actually think in. For a lot of people in Delhi, describing what’s going on is much easier in Hindi even when their working life runs in English.

I am preparing for UPSC and can’t afford time away. Is one session useful?

Yes, and one is genuinely a reasonable amount to start with. Forty-five minutes, online, at a slot you pick. A great deal of aspirant distress is about isolation and the arithmetic of attempts rather than about the syllabus, and that’s workable in a single conversation.

Will my parents find out?

No. Nothing is reported to your parents, and you can book using a first name only. This is the most common question we are asked in Delhi and the answer doesn’t have caveats attached to it, beyond the standard limit where there’s serious risk to life.

Can counselling actually help my anxiety?

Yes. Anxiety is highly manageable — counselling helps you understand what keeps it going and build skills to lower it. For many people the change is large.

Is the anxiety check a diagnosis?

No. The GAD-7 is a brief reflection scale that tells you roughly how heavy the last couple of weeks have been. Only a qualified professional can diagnose, and your answers aren’t stored.
